In Book 1: Ready for Work, students learn – in a real and meaningful way – about general living skills necessary for managing independently in an adult work environment.

The units of work are:

• About me
• Managing your money
• Food preparation and nutrition
• Around the house
• Making choices
• Clothing and presentation
• Getting there on time
• Health
• Thinking about work

As well as a wide range of activity suggestions and photocopiable worksheets, each unit contains a focus word list, a skills checklist and an assessment task. The appendix provides a number of sample documents and templates that can be used as references for writing application letters, resumes and emails.

Skills for Work can be used in a number of ways:

• as the basis for stand-alone units for work
