Skills for Fluency: Reading – Level 1

Description

Cambridge Skills for Fluency is a new range of materials designed specifically to develop students’ fluency and confidence in using English. Each book in the series offer a variety of imaginative topics and activities which will genuinely engage students interest and encourage them to share personal reactions and opinions – fluently.

Reading 1

Reading 1 develops reading skills by introducing learners to a wide variety of authentic texts. The texts have been selected to be of real interest to the learner and they are supported by carefully graded tasks and activities designed to increase the pre-intermediate learner’s involvement and confidence in reading in English.

• Systematically covers a range of reading skills, including predicting, contextual guesswork, and extracting main ideas.
• Provides a variety of pre-reading activities as well as interesting and imaginative speaking and writing extension activities.
• Is flexible and therefore easy to integrate with a main course
• Contains a detailed map to enable teachers to choose suitable units or activities
• Includes an answer key and brief teaching notes, making the material suitable for directed self-access
