An appropriate age range for this resource is late primary to early secondary, although some students in mid-primary might enjoy the challenge. There is still provision here for those who need help with early literacy skills but the main focus is more advanced. As with the other Kits, this one can assist some older learners, including adults with special needs, and NESB students.

Vocabulary receives special attention as it is essential to the advancement of Reading, Writing and Comprehension. Grammar, too, is fundamentally important to the improvement and enrichment of writing skills as the level advances. Adverbs, for example, exist in 8 different kinds and their correct usage needs to become familiar. It is a need that has not been overlooked in compiling the many illustrated examples in this Kit.

Literacy through the lens of science is another major feature, with bats being the topic. This is not to say that bats have replaced the much-loved ‘Encounters with Huntsman Spiders.’ They also have a place!
